April Learning Focus at Quarry House: Skin Care & Integrity

During April, Quarry House has been focusing on skin care, with dedicated learning and awareness around skin assessment, appropriate documentation, and the ongoing management of skin integrity.

Staff have taken part in learning activities to strengthen their knowledge and understanding of recognising skin changes, carrying out accurate assessments, and ensuring observations are documented clearly and correctly. This focus supports early identification of concerns and promotes timely, person-centred care.

Emphasis has also been placed on the ongoing management of skin integrity, ensuring residents receive the right care, support, and interventions to maintain healthy skin and reduce the risk of breakdown.

Jobit Goes the Extra Mile for Charity

We are incredibly proud to spotlight Jobit, one of our dedicated nurses from Glebe House, who recently took part in an inspiring fundraising challenge in support of an important cause.

Jobit undertook a charity hike to Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest peak, during the final week of March — a time when the mountain is still snow‑covered and particularly challenging. This incredible achievement was completed to raise funds for Bristol Children’s Hospital (BRI) Charity.

The charity plays a vital role in supporting children and families who require both emergency and planned care, helping to enhance facilities, equipment, and patient experiences. Every donation raised through this challenge goes directly to the charity, making a real and meaningful difference.

Jobit’s commitment and compassion truly reflect the values we are proud of across our teams. His dedication — both within his nursing role at Glebe House and beyond — has been inspirational to colleagues and the wider community.

Thank you, Jobit, for representing Bristol Care Homes so positively and for going above and beyond to support such a meaningful cause.

Review Of The Month – Quarry House

Recently visited Quarry House to visit a friend I’ve known for years for their birthday.
Staff on the Ocean ward were helpful and friendly.

I witnessed staff interacting with residents — everyone was laughing and dancing in the lounge area for the birthday celebrations.

I had some questions about the discharge to assess process my friend was on following a lengthy hospital stay. I spoke with two managers who were helpful and informative, clearly explaining everything.

The home was very clean, and reception staff were welcoming.

A H (Friend of Resident)
