Glebe House Celebrates a Truly Special Moment on ITV’s This Morning

Table of Contents

There are some days that stay with you, and for Glebe House, being featured on ITV’s This Morning was one of them.

The excitement, the pride, and the emotion of seeing our residents and community celebrated on national television made it an unforgettable experience – and a beautiful reminder of why intergenerational connection is so powerful.

A Spotlight on the Lullaby Project

Glebe House is proud to take part in the Lullaby mother and baby group, an initiative developed by Alive, a charity dedicated to enriching the lives of older people. The concept is simple yet profound: bring mothers and their babies into care homes to share music, bonding, and emotion‑filled moments with residents.

What has grown from these sessions is nothing short of magical.

Over weeks and months, mothers and their little ones have become familiar faces, and our residents have formed genuine, heartfelt relationships with them. Babies who once visited in prams now shuffle across the floor with confidence. Mothers who arrived quietly now chat warmly with residents as though visiting extended family.

And our residents? Their smiles say it all.

They light up the room when the group arrives. They hum along to the lullabies. They hold tiny hands, and reconnect to memories of parenthood, grandparenthood, and the joy of nurturing.

The Power of Shared Moments

Intergenerational work isn’t just lovely to witness – it genuinely transforms lives. At Glebe House, we see it every time in subtle but deeply meaningful ways:

  • Residents begin to share stories of their own children.
  • Those who are often quiet become more animated, joining in songs and actions.
  • Mothers find reassurance, community, and warmth in the presence of older generations.
  • Babies grow up surrounded by love, gentleness, and social connection.

These are small moments with big emotional impact – the kind of moments that enrich well-being, reduce loneliness, and nurture confidence in both young and old.

A National Moment of Pride

Having this beautiful project featured on This Morning with presenter Josie Gibson was an incredibly proud moment for Glebe House. To share what happens inside our walls – the laughter, the bonding, the joy – felt like a celebration of the values we hold close.

National TV coverage didn’t just shine a spotlight on our home; it highlighted the importance of intergenerational work in care settings everywhere. It showed that even the simplest interactions – sharing a song, holding a baby, smiling together – can have extraordinary emotional value.

For our residents, seeing themselves and their friends on television was something to treasure. For our staff, it was a moment to reflect on how impactful their work truly is. And for the mothers and babies who take part, it reinforced just how loved and appreciated they are within our community.

A Celebration of What We Do Together

The visit from This Morning captured what makes Glebe House – and our wider Bristol Care Homes family – so special: community, compassion, and meaningful connection.

We are incredibly grateful to Alive for creating the Lullaby group, to our teams for organising everything, to the mothers and babies who generously give their time, and to our wonderful residents who welcome them with open arms every week.

Sharing this magical experience with the nation was more than just a proud moment – it was a celebration of the joy that is possible when generations come together.

We look forward to many more sessions, memories, and shared smiles in the months ahead in our Bristol Care homes.
