Musicians Bring (Socially Distanced) Christmas Cheer to Care Home Residents
This week we have had some outside entertainment for our residents. These lovely two musicians, Tara and Ella, who make up the duo, Ruby Two Shoes are coming to each of our homes to provide some musical entertainment for us. The music is very warm and uplifting, including Christmas tunes.
“Ruby Two Shoes” is a Bristol-based vintage jazz and swing band made up of some of Bristol’s finest musicians.
They specialise in a vintage style, both with their music and look, and play classic songs from the ’30s and 40’s with a couple of vintage-style pop songs thrown in for good measure. Ranging from a small scale duo all the way to a full-swing 5-piece band.
This mini-concert was part of a new initiative from Bristol Beacon, called “mail a musician”.
Mail A Musician is Bristol Beacon’s new initiative to deliver the joy of live music direct to the hearts and homes of Bristolians over the course of this winter.
Mail A Musician is a way that the people of Bristol can send their love to the special people or places in their lives, and gift them a personalised musical performance.
Bristol Beacon will match selected nominees with a local musician to perform especially for them, either by video call, phone or as a covid-safe ‘doorstep gig’.
Concerts are presented by a diverse range of brilliant local Bristolian musicians, many of whom work across our schools and community projects.
Though our music venues may be silent, Bristol Beacon will continue to deliver the joy of live music to those who need it most at this special time of year.
While we may all be apart, Mail a Musician will ensure that the power of music to connect and uplift shines out across the city.

Despite some rain and wind, Tara and Ella are bringing lots of joy and happiness to our residents this Christmas week. Our residents are keeping safely inside the homes, and socially distanced whilst enjoying the music.
