Farewell to Valued Team Members at Glebe House 👋
At Glebe House, we recently said a heartfelt goodbye to two valued members of our team, Marius and Karla.
Marius, our Head Chef, has been a cherished part of the Glebe House family for an incredible 17 years 👨🍳. His dedication, hard work, and the delicious meals he has prepared have meant so much to both residents and staff alike. While we will miss him dearly, we are delighted that he will continue his journey within our organisation at our sister home, Field House. We wish him every success in his new role 🌟.
We also said farewell to Karla, who has supported us as our Admin Assistant for just over a year 💼. We are grateful for her contributions and the positive impact she has made during her time with us.
Celebrating Elena’s Achievement 🎓
We are delighted to share that Elena was recently congratulated and presented with her Adult Nursing qualification diploma by CEO Richard Crocker, in recognition of her hard work and dedication 👏.
This is a fantastic achievement and a proud moment for us all. Elena’s commitment and passion truly reflect the values we strive for every day.
We are incredibly proud of everything she has accomplished and look forward to seeing her continue to grow and make a positive impact in her nursing career 💙🌟.
A Wonderful Day of Partnership and Community 🤝
Glebe House was full of warmth, joy, and togetherness as we welcomed Oli and Clare from Alive Activities, alongside the lovely children from our community school, Almondsbury Primary School 🍓🍅🧑🌾.
Residents and children worked side by side in a heartwarming gardening session, potting strawberry 🍓 and tomato 🍅 plants that will be lovingly grown in our orchard garden. It was a beautiful sight to see different generations coming together, sharing laughter and creating something meaningful.
We would also like to wish the fantastic children from Almondsbury Primary School a very happy holiday. We can’t wait to continue our sessions together in September and create even more special memories 🧑🌾✨
Enhancing Care Through Learning 💚
A big thank you to Zion, Barnaby, and Liandra for delivering an engaging and insightful training session at Glebe House, focused on physiotherapy for people living with Parkinson’s disease 🙌.
Our team thoroughly enjoyed this case-focused session, which offered valuable practical insights and sparked meaningful discussions around how best to support residents with Parkinson’s. The session highlighted ways to help maintain mobility, independence, and overall quality of life for those in our care.
Continuous learning is key to delivering the highest standard of care, and sessions like these are always greatly appreciated by our team 🌟.
☀️ Quarry House Summer Fair Raises Funds for St Peter’s Hospice ☀️
Quarry House proudly kicked off this year’s summer fair season on Saturday, bringing together residents, staff, families, and members of the local community for a fun-filled day in support of St Peter’s Hospice – the charity chosen by our residents and staff.
There was something for everyone to enjoy, with a fantastic range of stalls including Misty Gems, Scorch & Sketch, Alison’s Gift Shop, Tropic Skincare, Dream Big Bowtique, Paw Print Crafts, MCF Beauty, Naresh, and Bristol Care Homes Recruitment. Visitors were also entertained by Wizard Gerry and The Berlingo’s, who helped create a wonderful atmosphere throughout the day.
The event featured a tombola, raffle, name the teddy competition, children’s face painting, games, and a popular bric-a-brac stall run by Quarry House staff. With the sun shining, Savs Super Wippy was on hand to keep everyone cool with a delicious selection of ice creams.
Ancillary Appreciation Day at Quarry House 💙
Quarry House recently celebrated Ancillary Appreciation Day, recognising and thanking our incredible ancillary staff for their dedication, hard work, and invaluable contribution to daily life at the home 🙌.
To mark the occasion, team members were welcomed at the start of their shifts with a special surprise at reception, including a cheerful “Thank You” song 🎶. As a token of appreciation, they were presented with thoughtful gifts of notebooks, pens, and sweets, and enjoyed luxury biscuits during their tea breaks 🍪✨.
It was a wonderful way to show our gratitude and celebrate the important role our ancillary staff play in supporting both residents and the wider team every day.
🍬 Celebrating National Fudge Day at Quarry House 🍬
Residents and staff at Quarry House recently celebrated National Fudge Day with a delightful mini fudge tasting session.
Everyone enjoyed trying a selection of delicious flavours, including Clotted Cream, Salted Caramel, After Eight, Double Chocolate, Oreo Cookie, and the classic Finger of Fudge. The activity sparked plenty of conversation as residents and staff shared their favourite flavours and sweet memories.
The fudge tasting was the perfect after-dinner treat and provided a wonderful opportunity for residents and staff to come together, socialise, and enjoy a fun-filled afternoon. 😊✨
🖥️ Residents Enjoy New Touch & Play Interactive Screen at Quarry House 🖥️
Thanks to the incredible support of residents, staff, families, and the local community through a range of fundraising and charity events, Quarry House has been able to purchase a new Touch & Play multimedia interactive screen for residents to enjoy.
The interactive device has quickly become a favourite within the home, with residents and staff taking part in a variety of engaging activities together. From quizzes and games to music, reminiscence sessions, and interactive exercises, the screen provides fun, stimulation, and opportunities for social connection.
This fantastic addition was made possible through the dedication and fundraising efforts of the Quarry House team, reflecting their commitment to enhancing the lives of residents and creating meaningful experiences for everyone.
⚽ World Cup Fever Hits Field House! ⚽
The wait is finally over – the World Cup has arrived, and excitement is building throughout Field House!
To celebrate the start of the tournament, one of our residents joined the Wellbeing Team to help organise the annual Field House World Cup Sweepstake. Residents and staff have enjoyed taking part, discovering which team they will be supporting and sharing their predictions for the competition.
The sweepstake has brought plenty of fun, friendly rivalry, and football discussions around the home, with everyone eagerly following their team’s progress. Families can check their loved one’s door to see which nation they have been assigned and who they will be cheering on throughout the tournament. 🏆🌍⚽
☀️ Residents’ Meeting and Sunshine at Field House ☀️
Residents and staff came together for the monthly Residents’ Meeting at Field House.
The Wellbeing Team shared information about the exciting activities and events planned for the month ahead and invited residents to contribute their ideas and suggestions for future activities. It was a great opportunity for residents and staff to work together, ensuring that everyone has a voice in shaping life at Field House.
Following the meeting, several residents and staff took advantage of the beautiful weather and spent time outside enjoying the afternoon sunshine. It was a lovely way to relax, socialise, and make the most of the warm summer day.💙
🤝 Building Community Connections at Field House 🤝
Field House recently had a productive meeting with Michelle from John James Court focused on strengthening community partnerships and creating new opportunities for community development.
During the discussion, ideas were shared about a range of future sessions and activities that could be enjoyed together, including live entertainment, physiotherapy, exercise sessions, and other activities based on residents’ interests and wellbeing needs.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to explore ways that Field House and John James Court can collaborate to support the wider community, encourage social connections, and create meaningful experiences for residents and staff across both homes.
🚶♀️ Supporting Joanne’s Trek for Alzheimer’s Society 🚶♀️
Field House is proud to support Joanne, our well-reliable receptionist, who will be taking on the Trek26 Cotswolds challenge in July 2026, walking an incredible 26 miles to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Joanne’s motivation for taking part is deeply personal. Dementia has had a profound impact on her life, with both her grandmother and father living with the condition. Having experienced the heartbreak of watching loved ones gradually lose their memories and independence, Joanne is determined to raise both awareness and vital funds to support those affected by dementia.
Although Joanne enjoys regular walks, usually lasting one to two hours, the challenge of walking 26 miles is a significant step outside her comfort zone. She is taking on this remarkable challenge to help Alzheimer’s Society continue its important work towards a future where dementia no longer devastates families.

We are delighted to celebrate the achievements of several members of our team. Congratulations to Jess, TJ, Lauren, Yash, Roseline, Priscilla, Ikenna, and Jemma for completing important milestones, including the successful completion of their Care Certificates. A special congratulations goes to Jemma on becoming a qualified Nurse.
A heartfelt thank you to Amanda for supporting staff through their Care Certificates, and to Val for her continued guidance and encouragement of our learners.
To mark these achievements, we came together for a small celebration with awards, drinks, and snacks. Well done to everyone for your hard work and dedication, and for making Beech House a fantastic place to learn, grow, and thrive. 🌟👏

🥤 Hydration Trolley Brings Smiles to Beech House 🥤
Residents and staff at Beech House enjoyed a visit from the Hydration Drinks Trolley on warm day, with a fantastic selection of refreshing drinks on offer.
The trolley made its way around residents’ rooms, providing a variety of hydrating options that were warmly received by everyone. Residents enjoyed choosing their favourite drinks, while staff joined in to help promote the importance of staying hydrated, especially during the warmer weather.
The initiative was a great success, bringing plenty of smiles and ensuring everyone made full use of the refreshing drinks available. 🤗💙
🎶 Beech House Welcomes the Nightingale Choir 🎶
This week, residents and staff at Beech House were delighted to welcome the Nightingale Choir for a special musical performance.
The choir entertained everyone for an hour with a wonderful selection of songs that brought back happy memories and created a warm, uplifting atmosphere throughout the home. Residents and staff enjoyed singing along, tapping their feet, and sharing memories inspired by the music.
It was a fantastic opportunity for everyone to come together, enjoy live entertainment, and make new memories as a community.
Company Spotlights: Care Concert 2026: A Memorable Celebration
We are delighted to share the success of this year’s Care Concert, delivered in collaboration with Bristol Beacon and featuring the internationally acclaimed Aurora Orchestra. Renowned for their BBC Proms performances and ability to perform from memory, the orchestra captivated audiences throughout.
Guests were warmly welcomed by the Bristol Beacon team, followed by heartfelt opening remarks from Geoff Crocker, whose vision founded the Care Concert, now in its fifth year.
This year’s event was bigger than ever, with 17 care homes attending alongside many of our valued community partners, and we are proud to share that the feedback from residents, families, and staff has been overwhelmingly positive.
A special thank you to our Activities Manager Marcia, Marketing Manager Alexandra, and Marketing Assistant Anant, whose dedication and hard work played a key role in successfully promoting and delivering this fantastic event.
We would also like to thank the Bristol Beacon team and participating care homes for ensuring residents could attend safely and comfortably. The event brought together care homes, families, and the wider community, celebrating the power of music—especially meaningful for those living with dementia.
Aurora Orchestra’s performance of Mozart’s Jupiter Symphony was a highlight, ending with a magical, light-filled finale. It was a truly unforgettable afternoon.
We are already looking forward to next year’s Care Concert.

Our mother has been a resident at Beech House for 10 years.
During those years we have nothing but praise for all the love and care she was shown, especially during her last days when she sadly passed.
We received so much support during an emotional time and the family will be forever grateful to Beech House.
