🌸 Glebe House Raises £533.70 for Macmillan Cancer Support

Glebe House is delighted to announce that this year’s Annual Summer raised an incredible £533.70 in support of Macmillan Cancer Support – a charity close to the hearts of many of our residents. 💚

Each summer, our fair is dedicated to a cause chosen by those who matter most – our residents. This year, the day was filled with joy, laughter, and a real sense of community as residents, families, friends, and neighbours came together to make a difference.

This wonderful achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity and kindness of everyone involved. From those who donated and volunteered, to all who came along to support the event – thank you for helping us make a positive impact.

Together, we’ve shown that when a community comes together, amazing things can happen. 🌟

💜 A Scented Thank You from Our Residents to Staff

At Glebe House, appreciation is often expressed in the simplest yet most meaningful ways. Recently, our Activities team members Bev and Liz led a creative and thoughtful session with residents in the Orchard Lounge. Together, they hand-crafted beautiful lavender bags using fresh lavender from our sensory garden and delicate silk tie pouches.

What made this activity extra special was the intention behind it. Tracy, our Activities Coordinator, and the residents decided these handmade lavender bags would be gifted to our dedicated staff team as a heartfelt gesture of gratitude.

When the bags were shared, staff were touched by the kindness and thoughtfulness of the residents. The fragrant gifts served as a reminder of the strong bond between residents and staff – a relationship built on care, trust, and mutual appreciation. 💐💜

To all our staff: thank you for everything you do, every single day. These small lavender bags carry with them the biggest message – you are truly valued. 🌸

🌻 Glebe House Sunflower Competition Update 🌻

Annual sunflower growing competition at Glebe House is in full bloom! Residents and staff have been eagerly nurturing their plants, and the garden is looking brighter than ever.

Nathan recently admitted he might have mixed up his seeds, planting one packet of ‘American Giants’ and one of ‘Dwarf Sunflowers’. Can you guess which is which? Either way, the bees don’t seem to mind as they buzz happily among the blooms. 🐝🌻

It’s wonderful to see everyone’s hard work growing – and we can’t wait to see which sunflowers reach for the sky!

🎉 Celebrating Our Ancillary Stars at Quarry House 💙

Quarry House took a moment to celebrate our incredible ancillary team – the people who keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes every single day! 🙌

To show our gratitude, each team member received a bespoke pen and a delicious “Thank You” cupcake 🖊️🧁. The home was also decorated with special bunting, creating a festive atmosphere as staff paused to express their appreciation.

It was a small gesture, but one that reflects the care, effort, and pride our ancillary team brings to their work. We couldn’t do it without you – and today, we made sure you knew just how much you’re valued. 🌟

We were delighted to add a personal and heartfelt touch to our recent summer event at Beech House, thanks to our very talented Deputy Manager, Kerry.

Kerry very kindly lent us some beautiful bunting she had handmade for her wedding, and around 100 metres of it were used to decorate the home for the occasion. Made with love, the bunting added a warm and festive atmosphere that residents, staff, and visitors all enjoyed.

🌻 A Sunny Surprise at Beech House 🌻

Residents at Beech House were treated to beautiful sunflower bouquets courtesy of Gist of Thornbury. A lovely flower stall was set up in the conservatory, where residents could choose their own bunch, which was then placed in a vase for their room.

As they admired the bright blooms, residents enjoyed sunflower-colored ice lollies, adding a sweet touch to the cheerful afternoon. Vases of sunflowers were also dotted around the home, spreading joy throughout.

The generosity didn’t stop there – residents were thrilled to share some bouquets with their sister home, Glebe House, making the day even more special. A truly spontaneous and joyful afternoon that started with a thoughtful gift. 🌻😊

Review Of The Month

What a wonderful place. You can feel the warm welcome and care as soon as you arrive.

Dad has dementia, but has been treated with dignity and respect and involved in his care since day one. Everyone has made every effort to get to know him, his likes and dislikes, and to make him as comfortable and content as possible.

Dad likes people around him, so the carers and activities team have encouraged, supported, and involved him with the daily activities – quizzes, games, animal visits, entertainment, film shows, gentle exercise, and even trips to interesting places in their minibus. The carers will sit and talk, read, or look at his photo albums to keep him engaged.

Everyone who works there will speak to the residents by name as they pass.

The rooms are bright, airy, clean, and spacious. The management is approachable, open to suggestions, and always welcomes visitors with their open-door policy.

We are so glad we found Quarry House and fully recommend it to others.
