Welcome to the June 2024 edition of our monthly staff newsletter. As we step into the early days of summer, I am reminded of the warmth, love and care that each of you brings to our care homes. Your dedication to our residents and your support for one another are the heartbeats of our BCH family.
As always, your input and suggestions are invaluable. Please feel free to reach out to me or any member of the management team with your ideas and feedback. Together, we can continue to create a caring, supportive, and dynamic environment for our residents and each other.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment and hard work. Let’s make this June a month to remember!

Thank you, Tracy, for all that you do!

They make it easy for me to visit and spend precious time with my husband.
My husband has a lovely room, and moves freely to activities in the lounge and the activities room. Outside the grounds are beautiful and accessible and secure, gratitude comes from all the family.
The staff and residents of Beech House had a great month.
As suggested by the residents at their monthly meetings, a trip to Weston Super Mare beach was taken. The group had fish and chips while having a fantastic time on the pier. It was a fantastic day, according to everyone who went.
When carer Jesse found out that Ian was a motorbike enthusiast she asked her partner to bring his bike along… well he did today together with 19 other riders!! All the bikes were parked in the garden and the residents went out to view them. There were wonderful conversations between the bikers and residents.
The most memorable moment was seeing Ian’s face light up when he saw the bikes. He related some of his biking stories and was elated by the gathering.
We are so grateful to Jesse and her biking friends who were so generous with their time. Ian said ‘It was the best day of his year’. A great team effort by all the staff made this a day to remember.
Numerous activities were going on this month at Glebe House, including walking clubs, coffee at the Bull Inn, garden activities in the sunshine, and performances by harpist Julie and musician Phil.
Mo went to Tudor Arms for her birthday celebration.
Happy birthday, Mo!
During a weekend, Bev hosted a Skittles game, there were also arts and crafts, and a cheese and wine afternoon. Everyone had a wonderful time.
Our head chef, Marius, has initiated an excellent idea. Marius, who has been working at the home for many years, will add something fresh to the delicious dishes by exploring foods from around the world.
Residents will be offered different food styles once a month as part of a diverse experience learning about culture and foods.
This began with the country Mexico. Marius, second chef Duan, and the kitchen team did an excellent job of presenting Mexican cuisine. The meal was cleverly coordinated with Mexican hats, bunting, and music. There was a beautiful culture in which management, staff, and residents worked together.
We are looking forward to hearing about the country they will visit next month.
Quarry House has also been busy with plenty of activtities.
Residents celebrated World Bee Day by creating hanging Bee decorations to brighten up their rooms. Residents painted the cut-out wooden bees, and clear laminated paper was used for the wings. The residents enjoyed themselves while listening to 1970s songs.
Nurse Sarah and carer Sharon have been caring for Richard for many years and are familiar with his likes and dislikes, hobbies, and interests. They took Richard shopping at IKEA, where he bought items for his room and clothes.
They stopped for lunch and had a fantastic day. Rich was talkative and full of smiles, he enjoyed being outside in the community. The staff plans to take Richard on a long weekend holiday to Dorest in September. Richard is clearly living his best life.
Thank you to the wonderful Quarry Team.
Field House has been so busy with activities.
David, a Leeds Rhino fan, and Jeremy, a Warrington Wolves fan, watched the Warrington Wolves vs. Huddersfield game together at Field House. Jeremy served cider, which David appreciated.
Down the corridors, the two could be heard oohing and ahhing.
Some residents have been out shopping, while others have been enjoying the good weather and living the high life, dining at the Avon Gorge Hotel. At the other end of the scales, it was fish and chips at Portishead for some. Yummy!
We’ve had another session with our resident print artist, Amy. Residents requested that we print some leaves. In the afternoon, we then took the inks around to the residents’ rooms and let other residents have a go.
Residents have been helping to create the banners for our summer fayre on the 6th of July.
Rebecca has been in to entertain residents with a lovely mix of songs from the 50s, 60s and 70s.
Margaret, from the local church, came in to deliver a lovely service for residents in the lounge and then went around to individual rooms for a quiet prayer.
It’s important to cater for those residents who are bedbound, and Lousia came in to deliver some of her amazing music and storytelling to residents on a 1:1.
