As Easter approaches, I wanted to take a moment to extend my thanks to each and every one of you for your recent dedication, compassion, and hard work.
We are filling up with residents at all the homes which, whilst positive, does create some challenges. However, your unwavering commitment to providing the best possible care to our residents has remained constant. Your resilience, kindness, and professionalism are truly appreciated, and I am continually inspired by the exceptional work you do. As I move around each of the homes I get a real sense of the happiness and warm environment you all provide for the residents. All this continues to make a real difference to the lives of those living in our homes.
Wishing you and your loved ones a lovely Easter.
Thank you once again for everything you do.

It has been another busy, but fruitful month at Glebe.
We started the month with Rich presenting four of our staff’s Care Certificates to them. After stopping for a quick photo, Rich took a moment to speak with each individual exploring how their time at Glebe House has been so far and what their aspirations are for the future. Well done Kelly, Mandy, Hard and Mariana.
Our recent ALIVE audit achieved a phenomenal 89/90. This is a real testament to the sensational work and commitment Tracy and her team invest in our home and its residents.
We have several new starters being orientated to their new roles and are already experiencing the family embrace that Glebe House offers.
A massive congratulations to Jinsha for passing her Nursing OSCEs. Jinsha, a registered nurse in India has been working towards full UK NMC registration over the last few months and has just taken the final step closer to securing her pin number. This is a long and challenging process, Jinsha has done an amazing job at persevering with her studies that were running alongside her carer work.
In April, our Orchard Team Leader Ellie will be moving to Bank as she leaves us to embark on a career as a Paramedic having just been accepted onto the course. Well done Ellie, onto the next season, you should be very proud.
Glebe House will be notably quieter over the next few months as Elena moves to Quarry to complete a number of her nursing competencies. As a hardworking, reliable and competent member of staff, her presence will be missed but we are all super proud of what she is working towards.
It’s been a busy month at Quarry House.
Once again, congratulations to Mihaela Ignat, Charlie Tompson and Daniel Leigh for achieving their Level 3 Food Hygiene qualification. Tom Jacobs also achieved his Apprenticeship through BCE. Anthony Khuboni, Pinky Soni and Joseph Ighalo passed their Care Certificate over the past few months.
Sarah Johannes, our Nurse Associate, has continued with the next stage of her learning to progress in her career. In March, Sarah enrolled at the BPP university. Sarah has commenced on the level 6 Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeships which is regulated by the NMC (Nursing & Midwifery Council). This will last 69 weeks and consist of online teaching, coaching and workplace development. Sarah’s initial placement will be at Beech House and Quarry House will support Elena Codreanu, Nurse Associate from Glebe House with her initial 10-week placement. We will keep you updated on their progress throughout their academic year.
We are celebrating Easter at Quarry House with an Easter Raffle. In addition to last month’s fundraiser, this month’s fundraiser is aiming to raise essential funds for St. Joseph’s Preschool. Quarry House has forged strong community links with the preschool and this is an opportunity for residents, friends, and family members to support St Joseph’s preschool. Funds raised will help them in their quest to secure new premises.
Sadly, we are saying goodbye to Shumi. Shumi has been covering a period of maternity leave within the housekeeping department and has contributed significantly to the dressing of the vacant rooms before viewings. We wish her the very best
Field House has been very busy with lots of activities for their wonderful residents.
Residents and staff had a colourful time with a special flowers delivery from Glebe House. The flowers were arranged in vases for the residents’ rooms. Spring/summer bunting was hung in several residents’ rooms to add some colour, especially for those who are bedridden.
Inspired by a delivery of roses, residents at Field House created paper flower decorations for their rooms, corridors, and lounges. They began by folding the paper before glueing the sections together. The residents and our team chatted and laughed as they worked. After we’d made the flower heads, residents decided to create stems by cutting out pieces of felt. They then placed the flowers around the home.
Everyone also had a fantastic time with entertainer Shannon, who sang several well-known songs. There was a lot of singing and dancing.
Another busy month has passed at Beech House.
Residents started organising a regular Saturday night social gatherings. On one of the last Saturdays, they watched “Fifty Shades of Grey,” their preferred movie, and indulged in wine, Baileys, and nibbles. The ladies are considering ordering takeaway and hope to invite additional residents to their evening gatherings.
It was also a special occasion for Naz at Beech House because it was the Iranian New Year. Naz is originally from Iran, and Louisa, who is well-known throughout our homes, specifically arranged a session to commemorate this. Louisa chose traditional Iranian objects to represent good luck in the new year. She played Iranian music, which Naz and her fellow residents thoroughly enjoyed.
Some Beech House residents went to Westbury on Trym. They enjoyed people-watching in the park before eating lunch at the café. It was a beautiful day to get outdoors.
Poppy, a volunteer at Beech House and granddaughter of resident Brenda, performed in a pantomime. The management, care team and family members worked together to arrange transport for Brenda and her two friends to the show. Everyone had a terrific time; there was plenty of interaction between the performers and the audience, and Poppy did an excellent job! Brenda was delighted to watch her granddaughter in the pantomime and share the experience with two other residents.
